Product overview

Upload up to 20 GB, transcribe with word timing, score highlight candidates, track faces, reframe to four ratios, caption with 24 templates, export MP4.

AI video clipper features, from upload to export

Clyps is one workflow with six stages. Four of them run without you, and the two that matter, choosing the moments and shaping them, happen in a browser editor where nothing is committed until you start the render.

Fast facts

  • MP4, MOV, M4V, and WebM up to 20 GB, resumable with retry and cancel.
  • Word-level transcription plus scored highlight candidates with written reasons.
  • Six framing modes, including tracked Auto follow and two-speaker Split screen.
  • 24 caption templates across 7 groups, all word-timed.
  • Cloud MP4 export at 720p or 1080p in 9:16, 16:9, 1:1, or 4:5.

Automatic stages

What does Clyps do to a recording after you upload it?

Three passes, none of which need your attention. Transcription produces the words with timing attached to each one. Highlight analysis reads that transcript and returns candidate clips carrying a title, a score, and a written reason. Face tracking runs across the source so the framing tools have subject data before you open anything.

The upload itself is worth one sentence, because large source files are where most tools fail. Clyps streams the file directly to storage in resumable chunks, so a dropped connection resumes rather than restarting, and a failing chunk can be retried or the whole upload cancelled cleanly.

The ordering has a practical consequence. Because tracking finishes before the editor opens, tracked Auto follow and two-speaker Split screen are available the first time you look at a clip. They are not a second job you queue after deciding you want them.

The studio editor

Which capabilities live in the browser editor?

Everything you would otherwise have to get right on the first try. Range, framing, ratio, captions, styling, and the transcript are all adjustable, and visual changes preview locally instead of costing a render.

What you control in the Clyps studio editor
CapabilityWhat you can changeDetail
Clip rangeStart and end of the proposed clipCandidate ranges land on sentence boundaries, so trims are nudges.
FramingCenter, Manual, Fit, Fill, Auto follow, Split screenTracked modes appear when tracking resolves one or two speakers.
Aspect ratio9:16, 16:9, 1:1, 4:5Set per clip, so one source can produce several shapes.
Caption template24 treatments across 7 groupsEssential 5, Editorial 5, Spoken 4, Layout 4, Social 3, Brand 2, Business 1.
Caption stylingFont size, width, colors, background, positionSize spans 28 to 120 px and width spans 30 to 92 percent of the frame.
TranscriptCorrect a word, hide a word, jump to a wordTiming stays attached, so corrections do not desynchronize captions.

The rule underneath the table is that every decision stays editable until export. Disagreeing with the AI costs you a minute in the editor, not a re-upload, which is the difference between a proposal and a verdict.

Output

What comes out at the end?

An H.264 MP4 rendered in the cloud at 720p or 1080p, in whichever of the four aspect ratios you chose. Captions are burned into the picture, which is what makes the clip readable in feeds that autoplay muted.

Render progress belongs to the project rather than the browser tab. If you reload the page, switch machines, or close the tab and come back later, the export is still where you left it. That matters for long sources, where the render is not instantaneous and babysitting a tab is a poor use of anyone's time.

Go deeper

Where is each capability explained in full?

Four pages carry the detail. Two describe the jobs people bring to Clyps, and two describe the capabilities that do the most work inside those jobs.

  • Long video to shorts

The general path from one large upload to a set of vertical clips, including the aspect-ratio decision per platform.

  • Podcast clip generator

The same workflow applied to recorded conversations, where two speakers and correct guest names decide whether a clip ships.

  • Automatic video reframing

All six framing modes, what tracked Auto follow does during a clip, and when the two-speaker Split screen becomes available.

  • Animated captions

The twenty-four templates by group, the six chunking presets, and the styling controls that reshape any of them.

Honest limits

When Clyps is the wrong tool

Clyps is a speech-driven clipper with a browser editor. Naming what it does not do is faster than letting you discover it after an upload.

  • Multicam live-switching edits

Clyps works inside one source file. Cutting between separately recorded camera angles is a job for a traditional NLE.

  • Recordings without speech

Highlight analysis reads the transcript, so music, ambient footage, and silent screen captures produce no candidate clips.

  • YouTube link as the input

URL import is built but currently disabled. File upload is the path today, for every source.

  • Stock B-roll and cutaways

There is no stock footage library in Clyps. Illustrative inserts have to come from elsewhere.

  • Exports above 1080p

Cloud render offers 720p and 1080p. Social placements are covered; a 4K master is not.

  • Unattended batch publishing

Candidates are proposals with reasons attached. The product assumes a person opens the editor before anything is published.

Questions

Questions about what Clyps does

What kind of video should you bring to Clyps?
Recordings that contain speech. Interviews, podcasts, webinars, conference talks, lessons, product demos, and streams all work because highlight analysis reads the transcript. Accepted files are MP4, MOV, M4V, and WebM up to 20 GB each.
Does Clyps publish clips automatically?
No. Clyps proposes candidate clips with a title, a score, and a written reason, and you decide which ones are worth shaping. The product is built around a person reviewing the shortlist in the studio editor before anything is exported.
How much of the result can you change?
Every decision stays editable until export. The clip range, the framing mode, the aspect ratio, the caption template, the caption styling, and the transcript words themselves are all live in the browser editor, and visual changes preview without a render.
Where does the rendering happen?
In the cloud. Clyps renders an H.264 MP4 at 720p or 1080p, and render progress is attached to the project rather than the tab, so reloading the page or closing it does not lose an export in flight.
