A content repurposing plan you can reuse

Use this practical worksheet to turn a recording into distinct social posts, assign review, and compare outcomes without losing the source context.

Use the worksheet before you start cutting

A repurposing plan connects each post to an audience need, a source passage, and an approval decision. It prevents a common production problem: exporting a pile of clips before anyone decides what the posts should accomplish.

Copy the fields below into your own spreadsheet, or download the CSV linked at the end. Create one row per proposed post, not one row per platform upload. When the same idea needs a materially different edit for another audience, give that version a separate row.

The planning fields

Keep the brief short enough to use while editing. The review note should record a concrete decision, such as keeping a qualification or making a screen detail larger.

A worked planning example

Illustrative source: a webinar about simplifying customer onboarding. This is a sample brief, not a report of customer performance. Candidate one explains an unnecessary setup field; candidate two demonstrates a shorter workflow; candidate three explains when extra verification is necessary.

For the first clip, define the audience as a founder reviewing a signup form. The question is “Which fields can wait until later?” The takeaway is to ask for information when it becomes useful. The review note is to preserve any condition about information genuinely needed for the service.

For the demonstration, the editor should keep the form readable rather than automatically filling the vertical frame with the speaker. For the decision-rule clip, the reviewer checks that the exception remains in the edit. These are different posts because they answer different questions, even though they share a recording.

A manageable production sequence

First, identify a small set of distinct ideas and confirm the source permissions. Next, edit and review one clip fully so the caption and framing decisions are settled. Apply the relevant decisions to the remaining clips, while still checking each one individually.

Before scheduling, open every approved export and verify its filename against the plan. After publication, add the URL and the observation window. Avoid changing the window simply because one post looks better at a particular moment. The aim is a useful comparison, not a flattering report.

Turn the results into the next brief

If viewers leave before the answer begins, test a clearer opening on the next relevant post. If people ask the same follow-up question, make that the next clip brief. If a post attracts attention but the wrong audience, refine the topic and the framing rather than only increasing output volume.

Keep rejected ideas and the reason for rejection. A passage that needs too much context for a short might become a longer tutorial or a written explanation. Repurposing works best when format follows the idea, not when every idea is forced into the same format.

Use the plan with Clyps

Upload the original recording, review suggested moments against the brief, and adjust captions and framing before export. Keep the source name and approved version in the worksheet so a later correction does not require rediscovering the passage.

Clyps supports exports up to 4K. Choose the output for the source and intended use; the worksheet is also useful when you need several versions. YouTube URL import is coming soon, so plan the current intake around original video files.
