Match the clip to a reason to watch
A useful Reel might answer a recurring question, explain a mistake, or show a concrete technique. Select one of those jobs for the clip. A passage that tries to summarize an entire episode usually needs more context than the format gives it.
Read the edit with the sound off
Correct the transcript and preview the captions at a phone-sized width. Short caption groups are easier to follow than dense lines that cover the face. Choose emphasis that supports the spoken point; animation on every word can compete with a detailed demonstration.
Review the cover and opening together
After exporting, pick the cover in your Instagram publishing workflow. Its wording should set up the same idea as the opening sentence. Watch the uploaded preview before posting, because interface controls can overlap text placed close to the edges.

A creator records a longer session answering audience questions about lighting. One answer explains why a window behind the speaker makes their face dark. Keep the question or the sentence that restates it, retain the practical comparison, and finish after the suggested change in position. Check the face and window through the vertical crop. When caption animation becomes a distraction
If viewers need to inspect a physical example, text that changes rapidly can pull their eyes away from it. Try a simpler treatment and watch the clip at a realistic size. Keep emphasis for the term or instruction that matters most. More movement is not evidence of a better explanation, and a template should serve the footage underneath.
